Nice to meet you
I'M MICHELLE
I'm driven by a deep desire to help women
thrive
in mid-life
After a scandal, trauma, postpartum depression and a sudden brain hemorrhage that almost killed me everything had to change.
I’ve seen it all…
But I kept going and finished the race. Just as I did when I finished my 100-mile bike ride with a torn PCL.
There are unique and specific obstacles, hardships that we, as mid-life women, walk through every day.
We face challenges in relationships, careers, and with our own bodies.
Inner dialogues, mindset blocks, and body image issues stop us from living our best lives.
Feeling overwhelmed, rudderless and anxious, stuck on the hamster wheel of life, continuously going through the motions, living on auto-pilot and wondering if our best years are behind us.
it doesn’t have to be this way...
As a Former Network Television Executive at CBS Daytime, we coveted the 18-49 age group. When I turned 49 it felt as if the world was over and that I was about to become
invisible
MY 'AH HA!' MOMENT
I was late. My daughter was breaking down. Her teacher gave me a disapproving look: we did not have the right dress for her concert. Other mothers appeared to have everything under control: on time, daughters with perfect outfits and hair. Then I had a hot flash. I fretted with the uncomfortable realization that sweat rings may be appearing on my blouse. I felt overwhelmed, inadequate, and foolish.
As I watched my daughter’s recital, another hot flash hit me and a 30 something mom commented how “emotional” I was getting. To which I thought she’d be getting “emotional” soon but then it dawned on me - if she doesn’t see me as middle aged why am I putting myself in that box?
I decided to find myself again, beyond the role of Mom, Wife, Daughter, Caretaker, or TV Executive. I got clear on what I wanted and created a roadmap to get it.
Along the way, I realized that in the second half of our lives we are not invisible, but invincible.
I believe there’s nothing we can’t do that our younger selves did when it comes to spirit, drive, and having fun!
In fact, with all our experiences, we can do it better!
THE NEW MID
With that philosophy in mind, I created “The New Mid” as a safe place to explore the (non-stereotypical) transitions we’re going through in our mid-life and founded “The New Mid Academy.” On top of speaking at events for midlife women, I also host a radio show and podcast, “The New Mid”.
It ranks #7 in the “Top Ten Valuable Podcasts for Midlife Women.” I’ve interviewed famous guests such as Joan Lundon, Dominique Dawes, AJ Langer-Courtenay, Heather Monahan, Amy Lacey, as well as expert guests, NYT Bestselling Authors. All to discuss topics that help and inspire midlife women.
